What it is
Not every sale happens online. If you take money at a counter — cash, or a card on your own card machine — counter payments let you record it in Cashvya so your reporting covers the whole business rather than only the online half.
Two methods are supported when creating a payment:
| Method | For |
|---|---|
CASH_COUNTER | Cash handed over in person |
CARD_COUNTER | A card taken on your own terminal |
How it differs from a UPI payment
A counter payment is money you have already collected yourself, so the gateway does not need to verify it against a bank notification and does not consume a receiving UPI slot. It becomes active immediately on creation.
Cashvya never touches the money in a counter payment. It is a record, for your own books and reporting. Only UPI payments collected through the gateway are part of a settlement.
Recording one
curl -X POST https://cashvya.com/api/v1/payments \
-H "Authorization: Bearer cashvya_live_YOUR_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{ "orderId": "COUNTER-8821", "amount": "250.00", "method": "CASH_COUNTER" }'
You can also take counter payments from the admin console's counter desk, without writing code.
Reporting
Counter payments appear in your transactions list alongside UPI payments, with their method shown, so you can filter one from the other. Because no platform fee applies to money the gateway did not collect, they do not affect your settlement totals.
